The Mercantile collection by designer Lori Holt (Bee In My Bonnet) for Riley Blake Designs is a fabric bundle of 42 5-inch squares. This charming and old-fashioned collection pays homage to the Herriman Mercantile, which was owned by Lori's grandmother Mildred (Millie) and located in the center of their hometown. Lori learned the art of quilting from Millie and her five great-aunts, Isabelle, Marjorie, Jesse, Edith, and Hazel.
Lori fondly remembers the town members visiting "The Merc," as it was affectionately called, to purchase essential items. It was the only store in her small town, which had no traffic lights and only one gas pump. Lori and her siblings, along with their friends, would regularly ride their bikes to the Merc to visit their grandmother and carefully choose a dime's worth of penny candy. While there, they also enjoyed a bottle of pop from the machine in the corner.
Each print in this beautiful collection is named with affection, reflecting the precious memories of a time gone by. The collection features a rich and playful vintage color palette that Lori's fans have come to love.
